Next month Ford is planning to unveil the generation 7 version of the Mustang but this is most likely going to be replaced by an EV model in 2028. This comes after California announcing that they are introducing a ban on gas-powered cars by 2035. Many in the industry thought that the company would announce a new hybrid version of their famous model but this doesn’t seem to be the case. Fans of the Mustang will be upset to hear that this will most likely be the last fully gas-powered version of the car, though the new EV models will resonate better with Gen-Z customers.

An EV model of the car will most likely be based on Mach-E’s platform. The CEO Jim Farley told interviewers in July that Ford is not developing dedicated EV platforms like General Motors Ultium battery architecture. In 2017 Ford said that they would be adding a hybrid powertrain to the Mustang though that did not appear to happen. With Governments looking towards a net-zero world by 2050 automotive manufacturers are going to have to follow suit. Which will then most likely see manufacturers like Ford moving their more popular vehicles into the EV market.
