Sustainability Reporting Specialist - CSRD / ESG
Location: Brussels, Belgium (with occasional travel to Berlin)
Contract: Full-time project assignment
Working pattern: Hybrid (approximately 2 days per week onsite)
The Opportunity
Our client is looking for an experienced Sustainability Reporting Specialist to support the implementation and development of sustainability reporting processes across a leading European energy organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing evolution of CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) compliance and help shape sustainability reporting practices within a major player in the energy transition.
You will work as part of a cross-functional Group Sustainability Reporting team, collaborating with stakeholders across Belgium and Germany, including Finance, HR, Sustainability, Infrastructure, Asset Management, IT and external auditors.
The Role
As Sustainability Reporting Specialist, you will support three key areas:
1. CSRD Governance & Audit Preparation
- Support preparation of governance-related sections of the annual Sustainability Statements.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and complete reporting data.
- Support the implementation of due diligence processes.
- Assist with documenting governance processes relating to human rights.
- Coordinate CSRD audit activities with internal teams and external assurance partners.
2. Sustainability Reporting & ESRS Implementation
- Support preparation of sustainability disclosures in line with ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards).
- Assist with operational activities related to Double Materiality Assessments.
- Engage with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure accurate and consistent reporting.
- Support continuous improvement of sustainability reporting processes.
3. Sustainability Data & Digitalisation
- Lead the development and implementation of a sustainability data and policy catalogue.
- Support the creation of online sustainability reporting resources.
- Collaborate with teams including:
- Communication
- Digital
- Strategy
- Sustainability
- Compliance
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 5 years' professional experience.
- Direct experience with:
- CSRD reporting
- ESRS standards
- Double Materiality Assessment
- Sustainability reporting frameworks
- Previous experience supporting ESG or financial assurance processes.
- Experience within a consultancy environment is advantageous.
- A Master's degree in a relevant field, such as:
- Sustainability Management
- Finance
- Economics
- Environmental Science
- Engineering
- Similar disciplines
