We're working with a contractor delivering a major data centre project in Milan and are looking for an experienced Senior BMS Engineer to take ownership of BMS engineering activities from design through to testing, commissioning and final handover.
This is a role for someone who enjoys the technical side of project delivery. You'll be involved in reviewing engineering submittals, managing design information, coordinating specialist subcontractors and ensuring systems are delivered in line with project requirements.
You'll work closely with project managers, commissioning teams and other engineering disciplines, playing a key role in the successful delivery of a critical infrastructure facility where building performance and system reliability are essential.
The Role
You'll take responsibility for the technical delivery of BMS systems throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring engineering, installation and commissioning activities remain aligned with programme and quality requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing BMS engineering and design deliverables
- Reviewing I/O schedules, equipment schedules, schematics and technical documentation
- Developing and reviewing functional specifications
- Coordinating device layouts, panel designs and system integration requirements
- Managing engineering change control and technical documentation
- Working closely with BMS subcontractors and specialist suppliers
- Monitoring engineering progress, quality and programme milestones
- Coordinating BMS activities with mechanical, electrical and commissioning teams
- Supporting off-site testing, factory acceptance testing and witness testing where required
- Participating in W1, W2 and W3 inspections and walkdowns
- Supporting testing, commissioning, system demonstrations and final handover activities
- Reviewing O&M manuals, record drawings and project close-out documentation
Why Consider It?
Data centres place significant demands on building controls systems, requiring close integration between mechanical, electrical and critical infrastructure packages.
This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of a substantial BMS package on a technically complex project, with involvement from design coordination through to live system validation and client handover.
You'll work alongside experienced engineering, construction and commissioning teams while gaining exposure to the systems and processes used on large-scale mission-critical developments.
The Person
- Strong background in Building Management Systems (BMS) engineering
- Experience delivering BMS packages on complex construction or engineering projects
- Knowledge of controls, instrumentation, system integration and building automation systems
- Experience producing and reviewing technical engineering submittals
- Strong understanding of I/O schedules, schematics, wiring layouts and equipment schedules
- Experience developing or interpreting functional specifications
- Previous experience managing BMS subcontractors or specialist engineering vendors
- Experience supporting testing, commissioning and handover activities
- Ability to manage multiple engineering activities while maintaining programme and quality requirements
- Strong technical documentation and change control experience
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of project deliverables
Experience within data centres, critical infrastructure, pharmaceutical facilities, advanced manufacturing or other highly serviced buildings would be particularly valuable.
Experience with W1, W2 and W3 inspections, off-site testing and critical environment controls systems would also be advantageous.
