Project Operations Manager

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Operations Manager to join a major data centre project in Frankfurt, Germany.

This is a senior site leadership opportunity with a leading European construction and engineering organisation, working on a major mission-critical development.

You will take overall responsibility for construction operations on site, leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating the delivery of Civil, Structural and Architectural (CSA) works alongside MEP activities.

The role will suit an experienced Project Operations Manager, Construction Manager, Senior Construction Manager or Site Operations Manager who has worked for a main/general contractor and is comfortable taking ownership of a large and complex construction operation.

What you'll be doing

You will work as part of the senior project leadership team, alongside the Project Director/Manager and Commercial Manager, with responsibility for keeping the site operating safely, efficiently and to programme.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Taking overall responsibility for construction activities across the site.
• Leading site operations, planning, logistics and mobilisation.
• Managing and coordinating multidisciplinary construction teams and supply chain partners.
• Leading pre-planning and coordination meetings to ensure works are properly prepared before starting.
• Coordinating CSA packages and their interfaces with mechanical and electrical installations.
• Working with the planning team to develop construction sequences and target programmes.
• Monitoring progress, identifying constraints and putting recovery plans in place where required.
• Working closely with the client, consultants and supply chain to maintain strong working relationships.
• Supporting the commercial team with scope changes and change management.
• Ensuring the correct resources, facilities and site conditions are in place throughout the project.
• Driving a strong Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality culture.
• Supporting Right First Time and quality initiatives across the project.
• Ensuring appropriate controls and suitably qualified personnel are in place for high-risk activities.
• Leading site walks and senior operational meetings.
• Managing issues, actions and risks through to completion.

What we're looking for

We're looking for a senior construction professional with a strong background in main contractor delivery and the leadership experience to take ownership of site operations.

You should have:

• 10+ years' experience managing large-scale construction projects.
• Experience working for a main/general contractor.
• Strong knowledge of Civil, Structural and Architectural (CSA) construction.
• Good understanding of MEP installations and construction interfaces.
• Experience leading large multidisciplinary teams and supply chain partners.
• Strong site operations, logistics, planning and sequencing experience.
• An Engineering Degree or recognised trade qualification.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety and quality requirements.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• The ability to make decisions, solve problems and take ownership in a demanding project environment.

Data centre experience

Previous data centre or mission-critical experience would be highly advantageous, particularly where you have managed large CSA packages and complex interfaces with MEP.

International construction experience would also be beneficial.
