We are recruiting Panel Wirers for a specialist engineering company based in Stoke-on-Trent.

Role Overview

The role involves installing and wiring complex electrical systems and control panels onto vehicle chassis. Working from engineering drawings and electrical schematics, you will be responsible for wiring, fitting and terminating electrical components, control panels and cabling for industrial scanning and automation equipment.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong electrical assembly and wiring skills, good attention to detail and the ability to work confidently from technical drawings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install electrical scanning systems and control panels onto large commercial vehicles and trucks.
  • Wire complete electrical systems onto truck and van chassis.
  • Carry out point-to-point wiring, loom building, cable crimping and termination.
  • Install and terminate data and communications cabling, including RJ45 and Cat5/Cat6.
  • Read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Carry out general mechanical fitting, including:
    • Marking out
    • Drilling
    • Tapping
    • Bracket and component fitting
  • Use a range of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Carry out testing, inspection and fault-finding as required.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the required quality and safety standards.
  • Work accurately and efficiently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in panel wiring, electrical assembly, vehicle wiring or electro-mechanical installation.
  • Good practical electrical wiring and termination skills.
  • Experience with crimping, cable preparation and loom building.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Competent use of hand and power tools.
  • Good mechanical fitting skills, including drilling, tapping and bracket installation.
  • Experience working on vehicle conversions or commercial vehicles would be advantageous.
  • A methodical approach with good attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
