Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
We are seeking a Manufacturing Technician to build, assemble, wire and test a range of special-purpose machinery and prototype equipment. The successful candidate will have strong electro-mechanical assembly skills, good attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
Electrical & Electro-Mechanical Assembly
- Carry out electro-mechanical assembly of special-purpose machinery and prototype units.
- Undertake precision assembly of prototype and production equipment.
- Complete point-to-point wiring, cable crimping, looming and termination work to a high standard.
- Carry out soldering and wiring to the required specifications.
- Read, interpret and work from electrical wiring diagrams, circuit diagrams and assembly drawings.
- Locate, diagnose and rectify faults within electrical power supply equipment.
- Carry out general mechanical and electrical assembly work as required.
- Correctly use, maintain and care for a range of hand tools, power tools, test equipment and measuring instruments.
- Ensure all work is completed accurately, safely and in accordance with relevant procedures and quality standards.
Tools & Practical Skills
The successful candidate must be confident using a variety of hand and power tools, including:
- Crimping tools
- Wire strippers and cutters
- Screwdrivers
- Spanners and ratchet sets
- Electric power tools
- Electrical test and measuring equipment
Key Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in electrical, electro-mechanical or manufacturing assembly.
- Good practical skills with wiring, soldering and cable termination.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to assembly and fault finding.
- Good manual dexterity and practical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering/manufacturing team.
