We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join an established engineering team delivering large-scale data centre and mission-critical projects across Ireland and internationally.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with 3-5 years' experience to work on high-profile hyperscale developments, contribute to complex electrical design projects and further develop their technical expertise within a growing sector.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary project teams, supporting the design, coordination and delivery of critical electrical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical designs for data centre and mission-critical projects.

  • Support the design of power distribution, control, ICT, security, monitoring and fire detection systems.

  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, specifications and design documentation.

  • Carry out electrical system studies and analyses using relevant engineering software.

  • Coordinate designs with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, vendors and contractors.

  • Ensure designs comply with applicable Building Regulations, EN/IEC standards, ETCI requirements, BS 7671 and relevant industry design guides.

  • Participate in design reviews, value engineering and technical problem-solving.

  • Maintain accurate project records and support quality assurance processes.

  • Undertake domestic and international travel as required.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • 3-5 years' experience in electrical design engineering.

  • Experience in data centres, mission-critical facilities, pharmaceutical, industrial or similar complex engineering environments.

  • Strong understanding of electrical power systems and design principles.

  • Knowledge of ETCI requirements, BS 7671, Building Regulations and EN/IEC standards.

  • Experience with relevant design software, such as Amtech, ETAP, EPLAN P8, PSCAD, DIgSILENT or CDEGS.

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office.

  • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally when required.

Experience working directly on data centre or mission-critical projects is highly desirable. Membership of Engineers Ireland, the IET or a similar professional body, or progress towards chartership, would also be advantageous.
