Civil Project Engineer - High Voltage Infrastructure


Location: Brussels, Belgium
Contract: Full-time project assignment
Working pattern: Hybrid (approximately 2 days per week onsite)

The Opportunity


Our client is looking for an experienced Civil Project Engineer to support major high-voltage infrastructure projects across Belgium.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading organisation within the European energy sector and contribute to the development of critical electricity infrastructure supporting the ongoing energy transition.
The role focuses on the civil engineering aspects of high-voltage substations and installations, supporting projects from initial concept and design through to completion.

The Role


As Civil Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the civil engineering scope within multidisciplinary high-voltage projects.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting projects throughout the full lifecycle, from definition through to final completion.
  • Developing technical civil engineering solutions during the design phase.
  • Providing input into project budgets, planning and resource requirements.
  • Managing and coordinating technical studies, including:
    • Civil engineering studies
    • Environmental studies
    • Structural stability assessments
    • Architectural and construction drawings
  • Working closely with designers to ensure project requirements and technical specifications are correctly delivered.
  • Managing and reviewing external engineering partners.
  • Preparing technical procurement documentation for contractor appointments.
  • Providing technical support throughout tendering and construction phases.
  • Taking ownership of the quality of civil engineering studies and deliverables.
  • Supporting continuous improvement through project reviews and technical feedback.
  • Coordinating progress reporting with multidisciplinary project teams.

Requirements


The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience within civil engineering projects, ideally within infrastructure, energy or industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction techniques and ground mechanics.
  • Understanding of structural calculations and construction methodologies.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to quality.
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach with the ability to identify improvements and alternatives.

Key Skills

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience coordinating external engineering partners.
  • Strong technical ownership and problem-solving capability.

Languages

  • Fluent Dutch required.
  • Good working knowledge of French required.

Location & Working Pattern

  • Based in Brussels.
  • Hybrid working available.
  • Approximately 2 days per week onsite presence required.
  • Candidates must have the right to work in Belgium.
