We are currently recruiting for an experienced Wireman to support an engineering department with the manufacture and testing of cables, wiring looms, electrical cabinets and development equipment.

This is a hands-on position working closely with engineers on new prototypes, test rigs and specialist service tools. You will also provide feedback on design errors and recommend practical improvements to drawings and build processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and test cables, cable assemblies, looms and wiring harnesses.

  • Build and test electrical cabinets for development systems.

  • Fabricate and test electrical test rigs and service tools.

  • Work closely with engineers to understand wiring requirements for new prototypes.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings.

  • Plan and complete wiring installations, connections and terminations.

  • Carry out crimping, soldering and cable termination activities.

  • Troubleshoot wiring faults and complete repairs where required.

  • Mark up drawings to identify amendments and support future revisions.

  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with specifications, quality standards and safety procedures.

  • Identify and report quality issues or defects to prevent recurrence.

  • Suggest practical improvements to designs, drawings and assembly processes.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous practical experience within cable assembly, electrical wiring or a similar position.

  • Experience manufacturing cable looms and wiring harnesses.

  • Strong crimp termination and soldering skills.

  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

  • Experience building or wiring electrical cabinets would be advantageous.

  • Previous experience working on prototypes, test rigs or development equipment would be beneficial.

  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Able to work effectively both independently and alongside engineering teams.
