We are seeking experienced Welders to join a leading shipbuilding programme. You will be responsible for fabricating, assembling and installing structural components that form part of complex naval vessels, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Working within a skilled production team, you will utilise a variety of welding processes and techniques to support the construction of world-class defence platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out welding activities on carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium materials.
Perform welding using a range of processes including:
Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW)
Manual Metal Arc (MMA)
Metal Inert Gas (MIG)
Submerged Arc Welding (SAW)
Automatic and Semi-Automatic Welding
Resistance/Stud Welding
Weld in multiple positions to approved procedures and quality standards.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing instructions and welding procedures.
Use a range of hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment safely and effectively.
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety, health and environmental regulations.
Maintain high quality standards and contribute to right-first-time production.
Work collaboratively with supervisors and other trades to meet programme requirements.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and productivity enhancements.
Essential Requirements
Proven experience in Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW).
Valid welding qualifications and recognised trade papers.
Ability to weld in all positions using a variety of consumables.
Experience working within heavy engineering, marine, defence, shipbuilding or similar manufacturing environments.
Strong understanding of welding procedures and fabrication techniques.
Knowledge of safe systems of work and health & safety requirements.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical instructions.
Desirable Requirements
IOSH Working Safely certification.
Confined Space certification.
Working at Height certification.
Experience within naval, marine or defence manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of quality assurance standards and inspection requirements.
