Senior Project Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join a leading engineering and construction organisation delivering major, technically complex projects in Düsseldorf.

This is a senior project leadership position suited to an experienced professional with a strong background in data centre, mission-critical, engineering or complex construction projects.

You will take a leading role in project delivery, working closely with clients, project teams, subcontractors and specialist vendors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the project delivery team and providing clear direction throughout the project lifecycle.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
• Managing project risks, opportunities, programme and commercial performance.
• Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
• Preparing weekly and monthly progress reports covering programme, percentage completion, costs and performance.
• Managing project schedules, milestones and delivery plans.
• Monitoring subcontractor progress, resources and performance.
• Managing subcontractor and vendor relationships.
• Ensuring appropriate execution plans, risk assessments and safe systems of work are in place.
• Managing the project contract budget and reporting financial performance.
• Ensuring contractual SLAs and KPIs are achieved.
• Carrying out project inspections and ensuring works are delivered in accordance with the agreed scope and programme.
• Acting as a senior point of contact during significant project events and technical escalations.

About You

We are looking for an experienced project manager with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar position and a strong understanding of complex engineering or construction environments.

You will ideally have:

• A professional project management qualification and/or relevant trade qualification.
• Proven experience delivering major projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems within a data centre environment.
• Experience with systems including generators, transformers, switchgear, UPS, battery systems, PDU units, AHUs, chilled water systems and fire protection systems.
• Experience managing subcontractors, vendors and outsourced service providers.
• Strong understanding of health and safety risk assessments and control measures.
• Experience delivering data centre projects, upgrades or similar complex engineering works.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to work under pressure and deliver within strict deadlines.
• A willingness to travel and work abroad when required.
