Senior Planner

Experienced Planner with Asta or P6 experience wanted

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Planner to join an established structural steelwork business based in Wombwell, South Yorkshire.

This is a key position within the business, supporting projects from tender and pre-construction through to live delivery and working closely with Estimating, Commercial, Production and Construction teams.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing detailed and deliverable programmes using Asta Powerproject and/or Primavera P6, bringing together information from across the business and ensuring project sequencing, dependencies, resources and key milestones are accurately reflected.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

• Developing detailed tender, pre-construction and live project programmes.
• Using Asta Powerproject and/or Primavera P6 to build and maintain programmes.
• Working with Estimating teams to develop tender programmes.
• Understanding production capacity, fabrication sequencing and lead times.
• Incorporating construction methodology and site erection sequencing.
• Managing programme logic, critical paths, milestones and dependencies.
• Reviewing client and main contractor programmes.
• Identifying programme risks, constraints and opportunities.
• Updating programmes throughout the project lifecycle.
• Producing clear progress and programme reports.
• Supporting project teams with scenario planning and programme optimisation.
• Challenging assumptions and working with operational teams to find practical solutions.

About You

We are looking for an experienced project planner who is confident working with multiple stakeholders and can turn complex project information into clear, practical programmes.

You will ideally have:

• Significant planning/programming experience within construction, engineering, structural steel or a similar environment.
• Strong experience using Asta Powerproject and/or Primavera P6.
• A strong understanding of critical path, sequencing, dependencies and programme logic.
• Experience developing programmes from information provided by different disciplines.
• The ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to manage multiple programmes and competing deadlines.

Structural steel, fabrication or engineering experience would be highly advantageous, particularly where you have an understanding of the relationship between design, procurement, fabrication, logistics and site erection.
