We're currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Saw Operator to join their busy and well-established steel manufacturing team.

The Role
As a Saw Operator, you'll be responsible for operating CNC band saws, drill lines, coping machines and laser cutting equipment to process structural steel components in line with production requirements. You'll play a key role in supporting the fabrication team by ensuring materials are prepared accurately, efficiently and safely while maintaining the highest quality standards.
You may also be required to provide occasional support at other company sites as operational needs require.
Key Responsibilities
Operate CNC band saws, drill lines, coping machines and laser cutting machines.
Read and follow cut lists, production schedules and work instructions to identify materials for processing.
Load and unload structural steel using overhead cranes and lifting equipment.
Cut steel sections, fittings and profiles to specification, maintaining tight tolerances and high quality standards.
Carry out routine quality checks and inspect your own work.
Safely operate CNC machinery and associated equipment in accordance with company procedures.
Support the fabrication team by ensuring materials are prepared efficiently and accurately.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
Comply with all company Health & Safety policies and site regulations at all times.
About You
We're looking for candidates who have:
Previous experience operating CNC machinery within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Experience within structural steel fabrication, steel processing or heavy engineering is desirable.
The ability to read and follow production documentation and cut lists.
A strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Experience working to tight tolerances.
A reliable, punctual and proactive approach to work.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
A strong commitment to health and safety.
Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts or other mobile plant would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided for the successful candidate.
