Quality Engineer

An established engineering and manufacturing business in Luton is seeking a proactive Quality Engineer to join its growing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across a variety of quality functions, supporting both internal operations and external suppliers, and helping to strengthen a high-performing Quality Management System.
You will be a key member of the Quality team, helping to maintain and improve the organisation's quality standards and processes. This includes contributing to audits, supporting product quality activities, developing inspection plans, and working closely with suppliers and customers to ensure expectations are consistently met.
The position also plays a role in supplier quality initiatives, including assisting with supplier assessments and helping to resolve complex quality concerns.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of the company's QMS in line with industry standards.
Carry out internal and supplier audits and follow up on improvement actions.
Lead and support structured problem-solving activities for quality issues.
Prepare and review quality documentation such as inspection reports, first article verifications, and production approval submissions.
Use quality tools to verify product compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
Track and analyse quality performance metrics to support improvement initiatives.
Strengthen incoming inspection processes for purchased parts and materials.
Support supplier approval and performance management, ensuring robust corrective actions are implemented where required.
Skills & Experience
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
Confident communicator able to work with teams across the business and with external stakeholders.
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
Understanding of QMS frameworks (ISO 9001, AS9100 or similar).
Experience with quality documentation such as first article reports, APQP/PPAP, or audit activities.
Familiarity with structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D).
Analytical thinker able to investigate and resolve technical issues.
Education
A relevant technical qualification or equivalent professional experience that supports successful performance in a Quality Engineering role.
