Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer will be primarily responsible for supporting the daily responsibilities within the Quality department and maintaining the company's QMS standards.
This includes involvement in internal/external Audits, FAIRs, calibration, inspection plans, APQP, PPAPs, and collaboration with both suppliers and customers to ensure quality requirements are met. The role demands flexibility to support a growing business, with increasing quality needs.

In addition to these core responsibilities, the role will also intersect with supplier quality initiatives. Supporting robust supplier quality processes, contributing to supplier audits based on risk analysis, and assisting in the resolution of complex quality issues.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support continual improvement of quality processes to meet AS9100, NADCAP, and customer standards.
  • Conduct internal and supplier audits aligned with the QMS.
  • Lead problem-solving from containment to root cause for internal and external non-conformances.
  • Completion of FAIRs (AS9102) and support PPAP activities (AS9145).
  • Ensure product compliance throughout product lifecycle using quality tools.
  • Track KPI with analysis on trends with to launch improvement initiatives, internally and for suppliers.
  • Improve incoming inspection processing for purchased products.
  • Manage supplier approvals, review FAIR/PPAP submissions.
  • Support supplier performance management, cross functional collaboration with suppliers to ensure performance is maintained, and actions are taken when required to improve performance.

Experience and Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and adaptability in changing situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to drive tasks to completion.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as confidence working within a team either leading or supporting to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Knowledge of QMS (ISO 9001, AS9100) implementation and upkeep.
  • Awareness of NADCAP for NDT and welding (desirable, not essential).
  • Experience with FAIR, APQP, and PPAP, internal and supplier audits.
  • Proficient in 8D problem-solving and handling external complaints.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve complex issues.
