The role will support the Quality Manager with the inspection, testing, monitoring and documentation of quality data, helping to maintain compliance with internal procedures, regulatory requirements and continuous improvement objectives.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Inspection and Testing
- Conduct visual, dimensional, mechanical, electrical and functional inspections of raw materials, in-process components and finished products.
- Use inspection and measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, multimeters, gauges, microscopes, CMMs, test rigs and computer-based inspection systems.
- Carry out batch testing, sample testing, first-off inspections and final release checks.
- Verify that products comply with technical drawings, specifications, work instructions and relevant quality standards.
- Identify defects, deviations and areas of non-conformance during the inspection process.
Documentation and Reporting
- Accurately record inspection and testing results in line with company documentation procedures.
- Maintain inspection logs, certificates of conformity, test sheets and calibration records.
- Raise and report non-conformance reports (NCRs) to the Quality Manager.
- Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action investigations.
- Support the preparation of quality reports, KPI data and quality trend analysis.
Quality Systems and Compliance
- Work in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, alongside any other relevant industry standards such as ISO 13485, AS9100 or IATF 16949.
- Ensure that quality control procedures and processes are followed at all times.
- Support internal and external quality audits.
- Assist with maintaining the calibration and accuracy of inspection and testing equipment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities across the manufacturing operation.
- Follow all relevant health and safety procedures while working within production and inspection areas.
Essential Experience and Skills
- Previous experience within a quality inspection, manufacturing or production environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and work instructions.
- Competent in the use of inspection equipment such as calipers, gauges, microscopes and multimeters.
- Good understanding of quality principles and ISO standards.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, ERP/MRP systems and quality databases.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Good understanding of health and safety responsibilities within a manufacturing environment.
Desirable Experience and Qualifications
- Formal qualification in engineering, manufacturing or quality, such as an NVQ, BTEC or HNC.
- Experience with statistical process control, sampling plans or process capability studies.
- Experience within electronics, CNC machining, mechanical assembly or another specialist manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or continuous improvement techniques.
- Previous experience working within an ISO 9001, ISO 13485 or AS9100-accredited environment.
Hours of Work
- Monday to Thursday: 8:30am-5:30pm
- Friday: 8:30am-1:00pm
Interview Process
First stage: Teams interview with HR.
Second stage: On-site interview with HR and the CEO, followed by an introduction to the Production Supervisor.
Health and Safety
The successful candidate will be required to wear safety footwear when working on the shop floor.
