We are seeking experienced Project Engineers and Senior Project Engineers to join a major HS2 delivery team (BBV Integrated Project Team) supporting the assurance and delivery of critical tunnel and pumping station infrastructure across the UK.
This is a client-side engineering assurance role, with a focus on MEP / building services systems, overseeing contractor delivery rather than undertaking detailed design.
You will play a key role in ensuring safe, compliant, and fully integrated building services systems across complex underground infrastructure assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a client-side Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer within the HS2 BBV IPT team
- Oversee contractor self-assurance and design delivery for building services packages
- Review and assure contractor design development for:
- Tunnel portal buildings (Bromford Tunnel, Long Itchington Tunnel, Burton Green Tunnel)
- Pumping station assets
- Monitor integration and coordination of building services systems including:
- Electrical power systems
- Lighting systems
- Mechanical systems
- HVAC systems
- Fire detection and life safety systems
- Ensure contractor compliance with project requirements and assurance processes
- Support integration and certification of multi-disciplinary building services systems
- Provide oversight of contractor design maturity and assurance submissions
- Liaise with contractors, designers, and project stakeholders
- Attend coordination meetings and site visits as required
- Support delivery of assurance during design and pre-construction phases
Candidate Requirements
- Experience in MEP / building services engineering (electrical or mechanical bias)
- Background in project engineering, assurance, or client-side delivery roles
- Strong understanding of integrated building services systems
- Experience overseeing contractor design or construction activities
- Familiarity with large-scale infrastructure or complex building projects
- Ability to review technical documentation and ensure system integration
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Role Details
- Minimum 3 days per week in Birmingham (BBV office)
- Occasional travel to HS2 sites when required (expenses covered if directed by HS2)
- Long-term programme running through to March 2027
- Opportunity to work on one of the UK's largest infrastructure programmes
- Client-side role with significant assurance responsibility
