Role Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Panel Wireman to join a major Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project based in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled electrical professionals with experience in wiring protection panels, control panels, and associated electrical systems within industrial or energy infrastructure environments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the assembly, wiring, installation, and testing of electrical protection and control panels, ensuring all work is completed to the highest safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembly and wiring of protection panels, control panels, and associated electrical systems for BESS infrastructure
- Installation, termination, and connection of electrical components in accordance with engineering drawings and schematics
- Reading and interpreting electrical diagrams, wiring schedules, and technical drawings
- Conducting panel modifications, fault finding, and testing activities where required
- Ensuring all electrical work complies with current industry regulations and project standards
- Supporting commissioning teams during system energisation and testing phases
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and site compliance at all times
- Working collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and wider site installation teams
Essential Requirements
Candidates must have:
- Valid CSCS Card
- Recognised Electrical Trade Qualifications (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
- Proven experience as a Panel Wireman within industrial, utilities, power generation, substations, or energy infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics and panel wiring systems
- Experience working on large-scale industrial or infrastructure construction projects
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines
Desirable Qualifications & Certifications
The following are highly advantageous:
- EUSR SHEA Power Certification
- SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme)
- Valid First Aid at Work Certification
- Previous experience working on BESS, substation, renewable energy, or high-voltage infrastructure projects
Package & Rates
- Pay Rate: £32.00 per hour
- Standard Hours: 45 hours per week
- Overtime Available
- Saturday: 1.3x hourly rate
- Sunday: 1.5x hourly rate
