We are currently recruiting for an experienced MIG Welder to join a busy structural steel fabrication workshop. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out high-quality vertical fillet and butt welds on structural steel components, ensuring all work meets required quality standards and fabrication drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MIG welding on structural steel sections and assemblies.
- Carry out vertical fillet and butt welds to specified welding procedures and standards.
- Read and interpret fabrication and engineering drawings.
- Prepare materials and components prior to welding.
- Inspect welds to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
- Work closely with fabricators and workshop personnel to meet production targets.
- Maintain welding equipment and ensure a safe working environment.
- Adhere to all workshop health and safety procedures.
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience as a MIG Welder within a structural steel fabrication environment.
- Ability to produce high-quality vertical fillet and butt welds.
- Competent in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings.
- Strong understanding of welding symbols and specifications.
- Experience working with structural steel sections and heavy fabrication.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Desirable
- Relevant welding qualifications or coding certificates.
- Experience working to BS EN welding standards.
- Overhead crane or forklift experience.
- Previous experience in a high-volume fabrication workshop.
