We are currently recruiting for an experienced MIG Welder to join a busy structural steel fabrication workshop. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out high-quality vertical fillet and butt welds on structural steel components, ensuring all work meets required quality standards and fabrication drawings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding on structural steel sections and assemblies.
  • Carry out vertical fillet and butt welds to specified welding procedures and standards.
  • Read and interpret fabrication and engineering drawings.
  • Prepare materials and components prior to welding.
  • Inspect welds to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  • Work closely with fabricators and workshop personnel to meet production targets.
  • Maintain welding equipment and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Adhere to all workshop health and safety procedures.

Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience as a MIG Welder within a structural steel fabrication environment.
  • Ability to produce high-quality vertical fillet and butt welds.
  • Competent in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings.
  • Strong understanding of welding symbols and specifications.
  • Experience working with structural steel sections and heavy fabrication.
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Desirable

  • Relevant welding qualifications or coding certificates.
  • Experience working to BS EN welding standards.
  • Overhead crane or forklift experience.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume fabrication workshop.
