We are seeking a skilled MIG Welder to join our coach refit and refurbishment team. The successful candidate will be responsible for welding, fabricating, and repairing metal components used in the refurbishment and structural modification of coaches and buses. This role requires high attention to detail, strong welding skills, and the ability to work to engineering drawings and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out MIG welding on mild steel, aluminium, and stainless steel components
Fabricate and repair structural sections of coaches, including frames, panels, brackets, and supports
Read and work from engineering drawings, sketches, and job specifications
Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, and aligning components prior to welding
Ensure welds meet quality, safety, and structural standards
Perform repairs on existing coach structures as part of refurbishment projects
Maintain welding equipment and ensure a safe, clean working environment
Work collaboratively with fabricators, fitters, and paint shop teams
Adhere to health & safety procedures at all times
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience as a MIG Welder, ideally within vehicle, coach, bus, or heavy fabrication environments
Ability to weld to a high cosmetic and structural standard
Experience working with thin and medium-gauge materials
Competent in reading fabrication drawings and measurements
Strong attention to detail and workmanship
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable Skills
Experience in coachbuilding, vehicle refurbishment, or automotive fabrication
TIG welding experience
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Welding / Fabrication or equivalent
Experience working on bespoke or custom-built projects
