Overview

An excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Project Engineer to join a major data centre construction project in Milan. Working as part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will support the delivery of mechanical engineering activities from design coordination through to installation, testing, and handover.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced construction environment and has experience coordinating design, procurement, and site activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate mechanical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and manage design documentation, technical submittals, and drawings.
  • Prepare and coordinate drawings across mechanical, electrical, architectural, structural, and sprinkler disciplines.
  • Support project handovers and design reviews.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and contribute to cost-effective project delivery.
  • Raise and manage RFIs to resolve technical queries.
  • Track equipment procurement, deliveries, purchase orders, and material schedules.
  • Support project reporting, commercial reviews, and variation management.
  • Prepare method statements, risk assessments, and engineering documentation.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and ensure works are completed in line with project requirements.
  • Carry out inspections, snagging activities, and P&ID/layout walkdowns.
  • Support testing, commissioning, and test pack completion.
  • Maintain accurate project records and document control systems.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in a Mechanical Project Engineer role within construction, data centres, pharmaceuticals, industrial, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical building services and project delivery.
  • Experience reviewing drawings, technical submittals, RFIs, and commissioning documentation.
  • Knowledge of construction processes, procurement, and subcontractor management.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of project risks and variations.
