Mechanical Lead

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Lead to join a major engineering and construction organisation delivering complex, high-value projects in Düsseldorf.

This is a senior, site-based position where you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of the mechanical package, working closely with the wider project team, consultants, clients and specialist subcontractors.

The Role

You will oversee day-to-day mechanical site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, to programme and in line with required quality standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing mechanical site activities and coordinating works with the wider project team.
• Managing subcontractors, resources and progress against the project programme.
• Overseeing mechanical QA/QC and ensuring documentation is maintained and closed out.
• Supporting site safety management and maintaining the relevant safety documentation.
• Monitoring labour, materials, plant, equipment, variations and valuations.
• Producing and reviewing weekly progress reports, labour projections and safety statistics.
• Identifying delays, design issues, material shortages and other project risks.
• Managing snagging and ensuring outstanding works are closed out.
• Attending project, engineering, planning, coordination and handover meetings.
• Working closely with the commercial team to ensure variations and changes are captured correctly.
• Supporting project handover, including O&M manuals, final accounts, QA and safety files.
• Ensuring subcontractor documentation remains accurate, current and compliant.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong construction background and proven experience coordinating mechanical packages on major projects.

You will ideally have:

• A mechanical trade background alongside a relevant third-level qualification.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
• Proven experience coordinating mechanical works on large-scale construction projects.
• Experience managing subcontractors and specialist contractors.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD and MS Project.
• Good understanding of project programmes, progress reporting and change management.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet demanding deadlines.
• Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of project costs and variations.

Experience working on data centres, advanced technology, life sciences, mission-critical or other technically complex construction projects would be highly advantageous.
