Are you passionate about technical documentation and engineering excellence? We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Technical Author to join a high-performance engineering team, supporting the delivery of cutting-edge mechanical engineering projects within a fast-paced motorsport environment.
Working closely with the Mechanical Engineering & Design team, you will play a key role in producing and maintaining high-quality technical documentation, supporting engineering governance, and ensuring design information is accurate, controlled and delivered to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation including design reports, specifications, work instructions, test procedures and release documentation.
- Work closely with mechanical engineers, designers and cross-functional teams to translate complex technical information into clear, accurate documentation.
- Manage document control processes, ensuring version control, traceability, change records and compliance with internal procedures.
- Prepare documentation packs, status reports and supporting evidence for design reviews, audits and project milestones.
- Review and update existing documentation to reflect engineering changes and continuous improvements.
- Liaise with manufacturing, quality and supply chain teams to ensure documentation supports build, inspection and validation activities.
- Maintain document registers, trackers and reporting tools across multiple engineering workstreams.
- Ensure all documentation is technically accurate, consistent, confidential and delivered within agreed timescales.
About You
We're looking for someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented and enjoys working in a collaborative engineering environment.
You'll ideally have:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience creating or supporting technical documentation within an engineering environment.
- Knowledge of document control processes, revision control and approval workflows.
- Strong technical writing and document structuring skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical ability and exceptional attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively to deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting engineering governance, design reviews or audit documentation.
- Knowledge of PTC Creo and Windchill/PDMLink.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the IMechE or IED.
