Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer looking to work on innovative engineering projects in a fast-paced, high-performance environment? We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading motorsport engineering team on a fixed-term contract until 2030, supporting the design and development of cutting-edge mechanical systems.
Working within the Mechanical Engineering & Design team, you will be involved throughout the full product lifecycle, from concept and design through to manufacture, testing and commissioning, delivering high-quality mechanical solutions for a range of engineering and R&D projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-quality mechanical components, assemblies and systems for engineering and R&D projects.
- Produce detailed 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings and supporting engineering documentation.
- Support the full product development lifecycle, including concept design, prototyping, testing, manufacture and commissioning.
- Modify, maintain and improve existing mechanical systems, providing engineering support and fault-finding where required.
- Produce technical reports, specifications and design documentation to support engineering activities.
- Work closely with manufacturing, suppliers and cross-functional teams to deliver projects efficiently and to a high standard.
- Manage engineering drawings and document release through Windchill/PDMLink.
- Provide technical support to operational teams and assist with engineering activities when required.
- Occasionally travel to support engineering projects and operational activities.
About You
We're looking for a proactive Mechanical Design Engineer with strong CAD experience and a passion for solving engineering challenges.
You'll ideally have:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design or a related engineering discipline.
- At least 3 years' experience designing mechanical components using PTC Creo.
- At least 2 years' experience using Windchill/PDMLink for drawing release and document control.
- Experience using AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
- Experience producing engineering drawings to BS8888 standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and within a team.
Desirable Skills
- Experience delivering bespoke or low-volume mechanical design projects.
- Practical understanding of ergonomics, shock and vibration.
- Experience writing technical reports, specifications and engineering documentation.
- Good understanding of manufacturing methods and product development processes.
