Senior Systems Engineer - MBSE Specialist | Complex Engineering Programme

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer (MBSE Specialist) to join a highly technical engineering programme supporting the development of complex systems within a secure and highly regulated environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong systems engineering professional with extensive Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience to play a key role supporting the development, optimisation, and integration of advanced engineering models that underpin critical programme delivery and engineering decision making.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will be responsible for maintaining complex engineering models, supporting systems integration, improving reporting and data visualisation capability, and ensuring engineering systems remain accurate, traceable, and aligned with wider programme objectives.

This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging, large-scale engineering programmes while contributing to cutting-edge engineering development within a highly complex environment.

The Role

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will support and enhance Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) capability across the wider engineering function while ensuring engineering models remain robust, integrated, and capable of supporting complex programme requirements.

You will work closely with engineering teams and technical stakeholders to manage engineering models, improve systems integration, develop reporting capabilities, maintain critical engineering databases, and support verification and validation processes across the wider engineering lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and improve Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes across complex engineering programmes

  • Manage and maintain complex engineering models, ensuring consistency, integrity, and reliability

  • Support systems engineering activities including:

    • Requirements Management

    • Interface Definition

    • Trade Studies

    • Systems Integration

    • Engineering Analysis and Modelling

  • Ensure engineering models remain aligned with wider systems architecture and programme requirements

  • Improve model deployment capability and enhance engineering reporting functionality

  • Develop dashboards, reporting tools, and data visualisations to support engineering and business stakeholders

  • Support integration of MBSE models with wider engineering software and technical systems

  • Analyse engineering performance metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and technical subject matter experts

  • Develop and implement verification and validation strategies to ensure engineering model accuracy and traceability

  • Maintain SQL databases supporting engineering systems and ensure data integrity across programme systems

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on engineering process maturity and systems integration capability

What We're Looking For

To be considered, candidates should have:

✔ Strong experience working within Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environments

✔ Proven background supporting complex systems engineering programmes

✔ Experience managing and maintaining complex engineering models

✔ Strong understanding of systems integration principles and systems architecture

✔ Experience supporting requirements management, interface definition, and engineering analysis

✔ Strong analytical skills with experience preparing technical reporting and engineering performance analysis

✔ Experience creating technical dashboards, reporting outputs, and data visualisation tools

✔ Strong working knowledge of SQL databases, database management, and engineering data integrity processes

✔ Experience supporting verification and validation processes within engineering environments

✔ Excellent communication skills with experience working across multidisciplinary technical teams

Highly Desirable Experience

  • Defence, nuclear, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, infrastructure, or other highly regulated engineering environments

  • Digital engineering transformation projects

  • Systems lifecycle management and systems architecture frameworks

  • Safety-critical or secure operational environments

  • MBSE integration with wider engineering software platforms

  • Large-scale multidisciplinary engineering programme experience

What's On Offer

  • Up to £500 per day

  • Long-term contract opportunity

  • Immediate start available

  • Full-time on-site position based in Aldermaston

  • Flexible working pattern including 4-day working week or 9-day fortnight

  • Opportunity to work on technically complex, high-profile engineering programmes

  • Exposure to advanced systems engineering and cutting-edge engineering delivery environments

Why Apply?

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer looking to work on highly complex engineering programmes where MBSE expertise, systems integration knowledge, and technical precision are critical to successful delivery.

If you have strong experience within systems engineering, complex technical programmes, advanced engineering modelling, and Model-Based Systems Engineering environments, we would like to hear from you.
