Machine Tool Fitter

Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Machine Tool Fitter to join their growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the build, assembly and installation of special purpose machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Precision machine fitting
• Fitting and assembling various machine sub-assemblies (e.g., Spindles, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Lubrication systems)
• Working to very tight tolerances
• Pipe bending & swaging
• Good knowledge of hydraulics & pneumatics
• Operating machine shop equipment such as millers, lathes, and grinders
• Ability to use measuring & inspection tools such as Verniers, Micrometers & gauges
• Must be able to read & understand engineering drawings and schematics

Role Requirements:

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Proficiency in reading drawings and fluid schematics
• Precision fitting, working to very tight tolerances.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Flexibility to work overtime when required
• Must hold a valid UK driving license and passport for international travel

Experience Needed:

• Mechanical Engineering qualifications (City & Guilds or BTEC)
• Previous experience as a Machine Tool Fitter or working in bespoke machine building
• Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems
• Experience using machine shop equipment
• Problem-solving skills and a passion for continuous improvement are highly desirable
