Lead Mechanical Engineer

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to join a leading international engineering organisation on a major data centre project in Fredericia, Denmark.

This is a senior technical leadership role with genuine ownership of the mechanical engineering function - from design and procurement through installation, commissioning and handover.

You'll lead the mechanical engineering team, coordinate with Electrical and CSA disciplines, work closely with the client and designers, and ensure the mechanical scope is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required technical and quality standards.

The Role

You'll be responsible for:

• Leading the mechanical engineering team and allocating engineers to work packages
• Taking ownership of mechanical engineering delivery across the project
• Managing design development and technical coordination
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical submissions
• Managing RFIs, technical queries, deviations and design changes
• Providing technical input into procurement and equipment selection
• Supporting mechanical installation and resolving site engineering issues
• Leading mechanical testing and commissioning activities
• Managing ITPs, test packs, FATs, SATs, walkdowns and system handover
• Coordinating mechanical interfaces with Electrical and CSA teams
• Supporting programme development, sequencing and look-ahead planning
• Identifying technical and programme risks and implementing mitigation plans
• Maintaining high standards of quality and EHS
• Mentoring and developing project and graduate engineers
• Managing relationships with clients, designers, subcontractors and suppliers

We're Looking For

We're looking for a senior mechanical engineer with experience delivering complex projects and leading engineering teams.

You'll ideally have:

• Strong senior-level mechanical engineering experience
• Experience leading engineering teams on major projects
• Data centre, pharmaceutical, life sciences, industrial or mission-critical experience
• Strong mechanical building services knowledge
• Proven installation, testing and commissioning experience
• Strong design management and technical coordination skills
• Experience working with clients, consultants and subcontractors
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• A practical, calm and solutions-focused approach
