About the Role
We are working with a leading engineering services provider to recruit a skilled Mobile Heavy Equipment Engineer. This is a field-based position focused on the maintenance, repair, and servicing of heavy mobile equipment used across airports, logistics hubs, and industrial sites.
The role offers an excellent balance of technical variety, autonomy, and stability, ideal for an experienced engineer looking to take ownership of their own region while supporting some of the UK's most critical operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned maintenance, inspections, and breakdown repairs on a range of heavy mobile equipment and vehicles. 
- Diagnose faults across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical (12/24V) systems. 
- Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics. 
- Utilise diagnostic tools and testing equipment to identify and resolve issues efficiently. 
- Provide responsive mobile support to customer sites, ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum. 
- Complete accurate service documentation, reports, and parts requisitions. 
- Work in accordance with company and client safety standards, completing all required compliance and permit procedures. 
Equipment You'll Work On
- Heavy-duty industrial vehicles, mobile plant, and material-handling machinery. 
- Diesel, hybrid, and electric-powered equipment. 
- Lifting systems, hydraulics, power units, and mechanical assemblies. 
Requirements
- Proven experience maintaining or repairing heavy vehicles, plant machinery, or mobile equipment. 
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical aptitude. 
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and service documentation. 
- Relevant qualification in mechanical, automotive, or electrical engineering, or time-served apprenticeship. 
- Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK. 
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and work occasional overtime or call-outs. 
- Strong customer service skills and ability to work independently in the field.
