Overview

An exciting opportunity has opened up for a Functional Integration Engineer to join a leading defence programme. You'll play a key role in the integration, verification, and testing of advanced missile and launcher systems, working alongside multi-disciplinary teams to ensure robust system-level performance.

This is a hands-on, technical role that requires collaboration across systems, design, and trials teams to support the full lifecycle of integration and proving activities. You'll develop deep insight into complex systems, contributing directly to mission-critical defence technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with systems and design teams to develop comprehensive test requirements.

  • Create test instructions, safety documentation, and technical reports.

  • Carry out integration of missile and launcher subsystems into full system configurations.

  • Conduct trials and proving activities to demonstrate system design integrity.

  • Support defect investigation, root cause analysis, and integration of test equipment.

  • Define requirements for test and trials equipment, and assist in deployment during test phases.

  • Engage with design teams to resolve integration issues and optimise system performance.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience in hardware/software integration and system-level testing.

  • Comfortable working collaboratively with systems and equipment design teams.

  • Strong background in electrical or electronic systems and fault diagnosis.

  • Logical, methodical approach to problem-solving.

  • Familiarity with industry-standard test and trials processes.

  • Experience in writing technical documentation (e.g., test plans, reports).

  • Proficiency with tools such as DOORS and commercial lab test equipment.

  • Understanding of data buses (e.g., MIL-STD-1553) and technical interface protocols.

  • Experience or interest in data analysis using Python or similar scripting languages.
