We are looking for a responsible and safety-focused Fire Watch to work on an industrial project, monitoring and controlling fire risks during hot work activities, including welding, cutting, grinding and other spark-producing work.
The Fire Watch will work closely with welders, contractors and site supervisors to ensure hot works are carried out safely and in accordance with site procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor all hot work activities, including welding, cutting, grinding and burning.
  • Maintain continuous observation of the work area during hot works.
  • Identify and remove potential fire hazards before work begins.
  • Ensure appropriate fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment are available and accessible.
  • Monitor surrounding areas for sparks, flames, smoke, heat and signs of fire.
  • Prevent sparks and hot materials from spreading to nearby combustible materials or areas.
  • Stop hot work immediately if unsafe conditions develop.
  • Maintain fire watch during the required post-hot-work monitoring period.
  • Communicate effectively with welders, supervisors and other site personnel.
  • Follow the project's Permit-to-Work and Hot Work Permit requirements.
  • Report hazards, incidents and unsafe practices immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Assist with emergency response procedures if a fire or other incident occurs.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Fire Watch, Safety Watch or similar industrial site role.
  • Experience working around welding, fabrication or other hot work activities.
  • Good understanding of basic fire prevention and site safety procedures.
  • Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working in an industrial environment.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to stop work when unsafe conditions are identified.
  • Relevant fire watch / hot work training is desirable.
  • Previous experience on construction, industrial, oil & gas, fabrication or similar projects is an advantage.

Working Hours


07:30am - 16:00pm
8 hours paid per day.
The role may occasionally require additional hours depending on project requirements and hot work activities.
