Job Title: Fabricator - Plater
What You'll Be Doing
- Interpreting engineering drawings
- Marking-off materials
- Plate preparation using various methods (oxy-fuel gas cutting, hand grinding)
- Assembling ship structures including shell, decks, bulkheads, frames, and longitudinals
- Fitting, fairing, and tack welding steelwork using fairing aids
- Fabricating ship components such as seats, ladders, false flooring, and panels
- Outfitting ship items including hatches, watertight doors, equipment seats, and false flooring
- Forming material using machine tools (rollers, flanging machines, guillotines, croppers, mechanical saws)
Skills and Experience Required
- Modern Apprenticeship / Trade Papers (SVQ Level 3 or equivalent required)
- Proven experience in fabrication
- Understanding of manufacturing processes
- Ability to tack weld
- Oxy-fuel and/or plasma cutting experience
- Strong understanding of SHE principles and risk assessments
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at height
- Relevant safety certifications (SHE induction, working at height, risk assessment, etc.)
- Background in a major construction or manufacturing environment
