To carry out industrial electrical installation works on the MOD Cornwall Street, Morgans Project in accordance with project specifications, current electrical regulations, health and safety legislation, and company procedures. The role requires a high standard of workmanship, a strong safety culture, and the ability to work effectively as part of a site team.
Key Responsibilities
- Install industrial electrical containment systems, including tray, basket, trunking, conduit, and cable ladder.
- Install, terminate, and test power, lighting, and control cabling.
- Install electrical equipment including distribution boards, switchgear, control panels, motors, and associated accessories.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and installation specifications.
- Carry out electrical installations in accordance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations), project specifications, and manufacturer requirements.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
- Complete installation works within agreed project timescales.
- Identify and report defects, design issues, and safety concerns to the site supervisor.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards within work areas.
- Participate in toolbox talks, site briefings, and safety inspections.
- Work collaboratively with other trades and subcontractors to support project delivery.
- Accurately complete required site documentation, permits, and inspection records.
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent recognised qualification).
- ECS Gold Card (Electrician).
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
- Previous experience in industrial electrical installations.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements on construction sites.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Inspection and Testing (City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent).
- IPAF Licence.
- PASMA Certification.
- Confined Space Training.
- First Aid at Work.
- Security clearance or ability to obtain MOD site clearance.
Health, Safety & Security
- Comply with all company Health & Safety policies and site-specific rules.
- Wear and maintain appropriate PPE at all times.
- Report accidents, incidents, hazards, and near misses immediately.
- Follow all MOD security procedures and site access requirements.
- Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
