We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a major data centre project in Mons, Belgium.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical professional to play a key role in the engineering and construction delivery of a complex, high-value mission-critical project.
You will work closely with the Project Manager, Engineering Lead, BIM team, client, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers, taking responsibility for the technical coordination and delivery of your assigned electrical systems.
The role offers the opportunity to work on a major international project where engineering quality, technical coordination and programme delivery are critical to success.
The Role
As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of the electrical package from design coordination through installation, quality assurance, procurement and handover.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing electrical systems and engineering activities within your area of responsibility.
- Reviewing IFC drawings, specifications and design information to ensure a clear understanding of project requirements.
- Coordinating installation drawings and technical information through BIM and engineering teams.
- Raising and managing RFIs, technical queries and design clarifications.
- Coordinating with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and the wider project team.
- Managing technical submittals and approval processes.
- Providing engineering support to site installation teams.
- Ensuring electrical installations comply with approved designs, specifications, standards and QA requirements.
- Supporting the development, implementation and handover of Construction Work Packs.
- Assisting with validation, testing, snagging and client handover activities.
- Monitoring engineering deliverables against the project programme.
- Working closely with the planning team to ensure engineering activities do not impact construction milestones.
- Managing engineering task logs and ensuring actions are closed within agreed deadlines.
- Supporting electrical material procurement and preparing material take-offs.
- Identifying material lead times and coordinating deliveries with the construction programme.
- Supporting the preparation and technical assessment of subcontractor and supplier tender packages.
- Monitoring subcontractor progress, manpower and installation activities.
- Supporting variations, valuations and commercial reporting.
- Working with the QA and Safety teams to maintain high standards across the project.
- Producing regular progress and technical reports.
- Maintaining accurate project records and photographic documentation.
BIM & Design Coordination
A key aspect of the role will be working closely with BIM and design teams to ensure electrical information is fully coordinated and construction-ready.
You will support:
- Development of BIM-led installation solutions.
- Modularisation and off-site fabrication initiatives.
- Typical fabrication details and isometric drawings.
- Model coordination and validation.
- Material and asset verification within the BIM environment.
- Design change management.
- Release of coordinated information for construction.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in electrical construction and engineering, ideally gained within a recognised M&E contractor.
Essential Requirements
- 5+ years' experience working with a recognised M&E contractor.
- Strong electrical engineering and construction knowledge.
- Proven experience supporting or managing electrical installation projects.
- Strong understanding of electrical design, installation and construction processes.
- Experience with CAD/BIM processes.
- Familiarity with project planning software, ideally Primavera.
- Excellent IT skills.
- Strong organisational and planning abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to demanding deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
Desirable Experience
- Previous data centre or mission-critical project experience.
- Knowledge of HV and MV systems.
- Experience within Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I).
- Knowledge of modularisation and off-site fabrication.
- Experience with BIM-led construction delivery.
- Experience supporting testing, validation and commissioning.
- Previous international construction experience.
The Person
You will be a technically capable and proactive Electrical Engineer who is comfortable working across both engineering and construction environments.
You will have the confidence to communicate with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams while maintaining a strong focus on technical quality, programme and delivery.
Excellent organisation and attention to detail are essential, along with the ability to identify issues early and develop practical solutions.
The ability to work independently, take ownership of your responsibilities and support junior engineers will also be highly valued.
