Our client is looking to appoint an experienced Design Assurance Engineer - Protection & Control (P&C) to support the delivery of major electricity transmission infrastructure projects across Scotland.
Working within the client's engineering team during the detailed design phase, you'll be responsible for reviewing Protection & Control designs, ensuring they meet technical standards, client requirements and industry regulations before progressing to construction.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile transmission projects within a collaborative engineering environment.
The Role
You'll provide technical assurance across Protection & Control engineering designs submitted by consultants and contractors, ensuring all deliverables are technically compliant, buildable and aligned with project objectives.
Working alongside design teams, project managers and construction personnel, you'll help resolve technical issues and provide engineering expertise throughout project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assure Protection & Control engineering designs.
- Ensure designs comply with SSE engineering standards and project specifications.
- Review protection philosophies, schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
- Respond to technical queries from designers, contractors and project teams.
- Assess the buildability and operational suitability of engineering solutions.
- Participate in technical assurance meetings and design reviews.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
- Identify technical risks and recommend practical engineering solutions.
- Support successful project delivery throughout the detailed design phase.
About You
You'll be an experienced Protection & Control engineer with a background in electricity transmission and a strong understanding of engineering assurance processes.
You'll ideally have:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience within the UK electricity transmission sector.
- Strong Protection & Control design or design assurance experience.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and engineering documentation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Desirable:
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership.
- Membership of IET, ICE or another relevant professional institution.
- Previous experience supporting SSE transmission projects.
