Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Marine Composite Laminator to join our team, specializing in the construction, repair, and finishing of high-quality yacht components. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with composite materials (fiberglass, carbon fiber, Kevlar, etc.) and a strong understanding of yacht manufacturing processes, ensuring precision, safety, and durability in all laminating tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare composite materials (fiberglass, carbon fiber, resins, cores) according to specifications.
Lay up and laminate composite structures, ensuring accurate alignment, layering, and resin application.
Operate vacuum bagging, infusion, and wet lay-up processes for yacht components.
Trim, finish, and inspect composite panels, decks, hulls, and other yacht parts for quality and adherence to engineering drawings.
Monitor curing processes, ensuring optimal temperature, pressure, and time for each laminate.
Identify defects or delamination issues and perform repairs as needed.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to optimize laminate performance and production efficiency.
Record production details, material usage, and quality checks accurately.
Qualifications & Skills:
Proven experience in marine composite lamination (yacht industry preferred).
Proficient with fiberglass, carbon fiber, Kevlar, and resin systems (epoxy, polyester, vinyl ester).
Knowledge of vacuum bagging, resin infusion, and hand lay-up techniques.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Strong attention to detail, precision, and commitment to high-quality standards.
Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy materials and work in confined spaces.
Understanding of safety procedures, PPE, and chemical handling.
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Desirable:
Experience with luxury yacht construction or repair.
Familiarity with CNC cutting, mold-making, or finishing techniques.
