A leading motorsport organisation is seeking an experienced Composite Design Engineer to join its expanding engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about high-performance vehicle development and eager to contribute to advanced racing programmes.


About the Role

Working within a specialised Design Office and reporting to the Engineering Director, you will be responsible for the design and development of composite sub-assemblies for high-performance racing vehicles, across projects such as prototypes, GT programmes and other top-level motorsport initiatives.

This position offers the opportunity to directly influence performance, innovation and reliability within a competitive engineering environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop technical proposals and practical solutions to address composite design challenges raised by internal stakeholders.
  • Deliver detailed studies for major composite sub-assemblies including bodywork, structural components, aerodynamic elements and associated systems.
  • Ensure designs meet performance, manufacturing, cost and timing requirements in collaboration with the project manager.
  • Work closely with purchasing, metrology, assembly and manufacturing teams to support seamless progression from concept to production.
  • Collaborate with simulation and modelling teams to ensure full system integration based on validated concepts.
  • Work independently when required, demonstrating sound decision-making and ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Provide guidance, support and technical insight to junior members of the design team.

Profile & Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the design of composite components for competition vehicles.
  • Ideally, experience on programmes such as Le Mans Prototypes or similar high-performance motorsport projects.
  • Strong understanding of composite materials, their behaviour, manufacturing methods and performance characteristics.
  • Proficient in Catia V5, particularly Surface, Solid and Drawing modules.
  • Confident in detailed analytical design, including functional analysis and structural considerations.
  • Ability to work autonomously, make informed engineering decisions and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure when deadlines require it.
