We are currently recruiting for two experienced Building Surveyors to join a major nationwide property surveying programme focused on residential housing compliance and asset condition assessments across the South of England. This is an excellent long-term contract opportunity for surveyors with experience in stock condition surveys, HHSRS assessments, and residential property inspections who are looking to work on a large-scale, high-profile housing programme.
This role offers the opportunity to work as part of a significant national project involving thousands of residential property surveys, with strong long-term potential for future work based on project performance and ongoing programme expansion.
The Role
You will be responsible for carrying out detailed stock condition surveys and Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) assessments across residential housing portfolios, helping to ensure housing compliance, identify property defects, assess maintenance requirements, and report on health and safety concerns including damp and mould-related risks.
Working independently in a field-based role, you will use digital survey tools to record property condition data, complete inspection reports, and liaise closely with programme delivery teams to ensure surveys are completed accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out stock condition surveys across residential housing properties
- Conducting HHSRS assessments and identifying compliance concerns
- Assessing overall property condition, maintenance requirements, and structural defects
- Reporting damp, mould, and property-related health & safety concerns
- Working in line with current housing legislation and compliance regulations, including Awaab's Law requirements
- Using iPads and digital survey software to collect and upload site data
- Completing survey completion reports and updating project teams on survey progress
- Following project procedures relating to site access, reporting protocols, and data submission requirements
- Managing workloads independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and reporting quality
- Travelling regularly across assigned regional areas to complete surveys
What We're Looking For
To be considered, candidates should have:
✔ Degree in Building Surveying or equivalent technical experience
✔ Previous experience carrying out Stock Condition Surveys
✔ Experience undertaking HHSRS Assessments
✔ Strong understanding of housing compliance regulations and property inspection standards
✔ Knowledge of Awaab's Law and damp & mould reporting requirements
✔ Experience using digital reporting systems / iPads for field-based survey work
✔ Full UK Driving Licence (Essential)
✔ Strong reporting, organisational, and communication skills
✔ Ability to work independently across multiple survey locations
Additional Experience Beneficial
- Experience working within social housing or housing association environments
- Previous experience working on large-scale residential surveying programmes
- Experience identifying structural defects and property compliance risks
- Comfortable travelling regularly and staying away overnight where required
- Experience working within consultancy, property management, or housing asset management environments
