24th July is 24/7 Samaritans Awareness Day.

Mane are proud to support Samaritans Awareness Day.

Samaritans is a registered charity aimed at providing emotional support to those in need, whether it be emotional stress, loneliness, those struggling to cope or those at risk of suicide. Samaritans work 24 hours a day providing help to those in need, not only for moments of crisis but mainly to take action to prevent the crisis in the first place.

Every six seconds, Samaritans answer a call for help.

With this in mind, Samaritans vision is to ensure that fewer people die from suicide. Every year, Samaritan volunteers answer more than 5 million calls for help via a 24-hour listening service, email, letter and face to face. Not only do they provide a 24 hour helpline, Samaritans also run nationwide and community campaigns to raise awareness within communities to ensure people in need know that Samaritans is there if they need support.

Samaritans five core values include listening, confidentiality, non-judgemental, people making their own decisions and human contact. They use these values to work tirelessly to reach more people within the UK and Ireland to try and make suicide prevention a priority.

There are currently 201 local Samaritan branches across the UK and Ireland. Last year alone over 20,000 volunteered their time to work with the charity to help them reach their goal of reducing suicide.

The current economic climate, people being furloughed, redundancies, a reduced number of contract positions and general uncertainty mean that many more people are feeling stressed than ever before. Whilst we are here for our candidates, and have trained mental health first aiders, you may be more comfortable reaching out to a third party.  That is why we support Samaritans.

If you need support, Samaritans are there to listen 24 hours, 365 days a year.
