Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact for the Project Manager on all planning-related project matters
- Develop schedules and histograms for bid support as required by the Lead Planner
- Support the implementation of planning processes to align with project goals
- Review contract documentation regarding schedules and reporting requirements to ensure compliance
- Facilitate planning meetings as needed
- Validate high-level target schedules based on emerging project information
- Optimize the build schedule and identify critical points where alignment with the main contractor schedule may vary
- Complete high-level labour load of the target schedule and produce an S-Curve for tracking progress
- Submit schedules and S-Curves for review and approval
- Contribute to negotiation strategies related to main contractor scheduling risks to secure a favourable outcome
- Attend and participate in meetings with the main contractor to negotiate and finalize the optimum build schedule, ensuring documentation of agreements
- Revise and enhance schedules with additional agreed details
- Assist the main contractor in developing an integrated overall schedule
- Ensure the schedule is labour-loaded and aligns with commercial budgets, flagging weeks of high progress forecast to the project management team
- Develop build methodology and phasing drawings to support execution
- Present the latest version of the schedule to the construction team for clarity and alignment
- Support in risk identification and mitigation throughout the planning process
- Provide early warnings to project teams based on progress reports and site conditions
- Advise project teams on ways to improve efficiency and performance
- Monitor package progress and subcontractor performance, providing estimate-at-completion analysis on labour man-hour expenditures
- Lead and facilitate weekly look-ahead meetings with site managers
- Track and record installation progress, ensuring accurate reporting
- Maintain records of spent and earned man-hours and support efficiency tracking
- Compile and issue detailed progress reports, both internally and externally
- Produce weekly drop-line schedules, including retrospective and upcoming two-week outlooks
- Manage, revise, and maintain schedules as needed
- Escalate risk concerns to the Lead Planner and Planning & Risk Manager
- Identify opportunities for improving services to internal customers
- Seek new ways to optimize planning processes for enhanced performance
Qualifications:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a strong trades background with technical expertise
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in project planning, demonstrating ability to develop and implement schedules and work monitoring systems
- Capability to develop project plans based on design and commercial data
- Experience in coordinating multiple project plans effectively
- Proficient in Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent planning software, alongside strong Microsoft Office skills and excellent report writing abilities
- Strong time management skills to meet the demands of a fast-paced project environment
