Role Overview:


We are seeking a skilled Prototype Wirer to join our team in Sunbury-on-Thames. This hands-on role involves building and wiring new prototype units currently in development, working from engineering drawings and schematics. The successful candidate will work on small to medium-sized enclosures and mechanical assemblies, ensuring all prototypes are built to high standards of safety and quality.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Build and wire prototype units in line with engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Carry out point-to-point wiring, soldering, crimping, looming, and cable termination.

  • Assemble and wire small/medium enclosures and connect diesel engines onto frame enclosures.

  • Perform mechanical fitting tasks, including marking out, drilling, and tapping.

  • Use a range of hand and power tools, such as spanners, screwdrivers, Allen keys, ratchet sets, and electric drills.

  • Interpret and work from engineering wiring diagrams, schematics, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Support problem-solving activities and contribute ideas for improvements during prototype builds.

Skills & Experience Required:


  • Proven experience in prototype wiring or assembly within a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to read and work from detailed engineering drawings and schematics.

  • Confident using mechanical hand tools and power tools.

  • Experience in point-to-point wiring, soldering, crimping, and cable termination.

  • Previous experience in sectors such as aerospace, defence, or automotive (advantageous).

  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a flexible, practical approach.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English to a good standard.

Clearance Requirements:


  • Must have the right to work in the UK - please note we are unable to accept spousal visas.

  • Candidates must have lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years.

  • BPSS clearance, CRB check, and address verification will be required.

  • Must be able to provide 3 years of employment history.
