Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee the foundation design process for an offshore wind project in the UK. The primary responsibility will be managing the Design Contract on a daily basis, ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and seamless coordination between stakeholders. This role involves interfacing with various contractors, reviewing technical documents, and supporting project execution phases, including fabrication and transportation & installation (T&I).
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership: Lead the design management for offshore wind WTG foundations, ensuring alignment with project goals and schedules.
Design Contract Management: Oversee the outsourced design contract, ensuring deliverables meet required specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
Technical Oversight: Work closely with engineering teams to review and validate designs related to Monopiles (MP), Transition Pieces (TP), TP-less foundations, Integrated Load Analysis (ILA), Geotechnical (Geotech), Finite Element Modeling (FEM), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and UK HSE regulations.
Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the main point of contact between design contractors, internal teams, and external partners to address design clarifications and technical queries.
Risk & Compliance Management: Ensure all designs comply with local, national, and international standards while proactively managing risks and quality measures.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain up-to-date project documentation, including risk matrices, technical reports, and regulatory compliance records.
Support to Execution Phases: Provide technical support during fabrication and T&I contract execution, assisting with Technical Queries (TQs) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
Required Expertise & Skills:
Educational Background: Degree in Structural, Civil, or Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent).
Experience: At least 10 years of experience in offshore wind foundation design and engineering.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of MP/TP foundations, TP-less solutions, ILA, geotechnical analysis, FEM, CFD, and offshore wind safety standards.
Project Management: Experience managing design packages within large-scale offshore wind projects.
Contract Management: Familiarity with managing outsourced design contracts and working alongside contract managers.
Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of UK HSE and relevant offshore wind regulatory frameworks.
Communication & Collaboration: Strong stakeholder management skills, ability to work across multidisciplinary teams, and excellent problem-solving capabilities.
Workplace & Travel Requirements:
The team operates across multiple locations (Copenhagen, Milan, Edinburgh), with flexibility for remote work.
Occasional travel is expected, including periodic meetings in Edinburgh and on-site visits as necessary.
