Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the delivery of mechanical systems during the shell & core phase of a new-build life sciences facility.
- Oversee mechanical works across HVAC, CHW, LTHW, plantroom installation, and associated infrastructure.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and internal site teams to ensure installation is executed to programme, safety standards, and technical compliance requirements.
- Work closely with the design and engineering teams to address technical queries and ensure mechanical systems are built in line with design intent and regulatory standards.
- Report directly to the Project Manager, providing regular progress updates, highlighting risks, and contributing to project planning and coordination activities.
- Attend and contribute to weekly progress, coordination, and subcontractor meetings.
- Ensure that mechanical works are delivered to the highest quality and safety standards, and in accordance with project documentation and specifications.
- Support pre-commissioning and handover preparation for mechanical systems.
Qualification
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline; alternatively, a strong trade background with proven supervisory experience.
- 7+ years of mechanical construction experience on large-scale industrial or life sciences projects.
- Solid understanding of HVAC and mechanical infrastructure delivery in controlled or regulated environments.
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors, monitor progress, and coordinate mechanical works to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems relevant to shell & core delivery.
- Familiarity with construction documentation, quality assurance procedures, and commissioning interface requirements.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills; able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary project team.
