Mane is seeking an experienced and talented Design Manager to join its high-performing project team based in the London Docklands.
The company specialises in Critical Environments including Data Centres, Life Sciences, Aviation, High Value Manufacturing, and Critical Logistics. This is a great opportunity to contribute to high-profile projects for major clients in a dynamic and stimulating work environment.


Purpose of the Role


As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the design process across multiple construction projects. The role ensures that all design activities align with project objectives, budgetary constraints, and timelines.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead and oversee the full design lifecycle, from concept through to construction.

  • Coordinate architectural, structural, and MEP consultants throughout all project phases.

  • Review drawings and specifications for accuracy, completeness, and constructability.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients on all design-related matters, ensuring design progress aligns with construction timelines.

  • Ensure integration and alignment of all design disciplines, allowing sufficient time for internal team review and feedback.

  • Present design and engineering progress at client meetings, highlighting risks or areas of concern.

  • Assess design documents to ensure compliance with codes, budgets, and schedules.

  • Identify and recommend cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements without compromising design intent.

  • Review quality assurance plans and ensure implementation on site, including necessary design risk assessments.

  • Proactively address and resolve design issues to avoid delays and ensure regulatory compliance.

Candidate Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in design management within the construction sector, ideally with a main contractor.

  • Experience with Data Centre projects is advantageous.

  • Proficient with design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other BIM platforms.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities.

  • Capable of managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
