Seamade

Seamade Offshore Wind Farm is being developed in Belgian North Sea waters. The project integrates Seastar offshore wind farm and Mermaid offshore wind farm, both located off the Belgian coast. Situated 50km away from the project, the Otary logistical hub in the port of Ostend will support the operations and maintenance of the windfarm.
JDR Cable Systems were recently awarded the cable instillation scope, supporting other clients Deme Offshore, Engie, EDS and Smulders. The past collaboration between Mane and JDR on Beatrice, Hornsea, EA1 meant for a smooth servicing of the campaign, despite challenges faced in an uncertain climate. While other industries were in decline with many workers stood down - JDR and Mane worked together to find solutions and press on in line with scheduled deadlines. At the time of this article being written, there will still be a number of rotations left - with 50+ different contractors working on the project.
Different job functions include: cable mates, MV techs, FO techs, supervisors, doc controllers. There is still a real sense of pride and achievement attached to this particular campaign, given the unprecedented circumstances, everyone found themselves in. JDR's operations team worked diligently to implement safe and viable arrangements around the travel restrictions. Mane was on hand to update and offer reassurances to every key worker mobilising. With many employees forced to work remotely during this period, processing such a high volume of time-sheets and expense claims was also challenging.
There were some late recruitment surges required to add personnel to the already established teams while the project was underway. The Mane Energy Team responded to all urgent needs appropriately, which was indeed a difficult task with 3 separate projects running concurrently with JDR.
