Senior Quality Engineer

We are currently seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join our Quality team, reporting to the Quality and Test Engineering Manager. The Senior Quality Engineer will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the QMS and supporting the Quality Engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the maintenance and continual improvement of the QMS to ensure compliance with BS EN ISO 9001.
  • Conduct internal audits to monitor the operation and effectiveness of the QMS and facilitate continual improvement.
  • Ensure appropriate corrective actions from recorded non-conformances are implemented and effective.
  • Develop QMS elements with process owners, including processes, procedures, and operating instructions.
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain team, responsible for on-site supplier assessment and approval.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure the on-time supply of conforming materials and services and resolve issues with non-compliant products.
  • Act as a customer-facing liaison on Quality issues.
  • Review customer bids and contracts for Quality requirements and prepare Quality Plans.
  • Perform fault analysis and generate reports on customer returns.
  • Sign off Certificates of Conformance (CofC) in accordance with relevant company procedures.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experienced in managing a QMS within a design and manufacturing environment.
  • Qualified to a minimum of HNC/HND or equivalent; Engineering related discipline is highly desirable.
  • Confident and credible communicator, able to interact plausibly in all business settings.
  • Experienced in managing and conducting internal and supplier audits.
  • Proficient in "8D" problem-solving methodology, including use of 5-Whys and Ishikawa/Cause and Effect diagrams.
  • Able to create and develop clear and concise QMS elements, including processes, procedures, and workflows.


  • Experience within the electro-mechanical defence-based industry applying AQAP2110 and/or AS9100 QMS standards.
  • CQI or IRCA membership.
