The position: We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our F1 Mechanical Design group, working on a wide variety of projects.


Collaborating with the Group Principal / Head of Mechanical Design, you will be responsible for undertaking and guiding a range of designs from initial concepts through to prototype production working closely with other Engineering departments.


As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Concept design through to detailing of mechanical, hydraulic & composite components and assemblies on a wide variety of systems across the car.
  • Carry out background stress and sizing calculations and produce supporting documentation.
  • Conduct design reviews independently or with the Principal Engineer / Head of Department.
  • Demonstrate significant experience to be drawn on by others and be a point of contact for engineering support.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers within the team.
  • Complete end-to-end ownership for projects incorporating manufacture, build, testing and racing, including fault analysis and resolution requiring close collaboration with the wider team.
  • Support checking of detailed drawings, including design review against specification and previous designs and competitor analysis.
  • Drive continuous improvement and promote autonomous creativity.


Our ideal candidate is someone who has:

  • An in-depth understanding of fundamental engineering principles and previous experience within a similar role within motorsport.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification supported by design experience in motorsport, aerospace or a related field.
  • The ability to manage a diverse workload and prioritise work to varying deadlines.
  • Strong CAD skills, ideally with experience of Siemens NX, however, training will be provided for conversion from other CAD systems.
  • Experience with simulation modelling and basic stress calculations.
  • Data analysis experience would also be beneficial.
