Mane help to save 900,000 tonnes of CO2 in Baltic 2 project
One of the most significant developments in 2014 was Mane’s involvement with the Baltic 2 project. Located in the Baltic Sea, off the coast of Rostock (Germany), Baltic 2 will feature 80 wind turbines, each rated at 3.6 MW, for a total output of 288 MW. Once fully operational it will be producing enough green energy for the annual consumption of around 340.000 households. The erection of the turbines is currently in full swing: 34 wind power turbines have already been installed. It is anticipated that – subject to suitable weather conditions – the first power turbines will start feeding electricity into the grid in the next few weeks.
The full commissioning of EnBW Baltic 2 is scheduled for spring 2015, with the offshore wind farm generating 1,200 gigawatt hours of electricity per year that will have the capability of covering around 340,000 households and will save 900,000 tonnes of CO2.
Mane are incredibly excited to be involved with the project and have contributed enormously to the work that has been undertaken thus far. Covering the entire project life cycle, Mane have, and will continue to be involved with complete project coverage, including; EPC, Planning, Contract/Tender Management, Design, Manufacturing, Survey, Transportation, Installation & Construction and commissioning functions. We have been working closely alongside various different organisations involved with Baltic 2, such as operators, contractors and service companies and will continue to supply staff for the remaining stages of the project.
Stephen Stuart, European Business Manager – Germany, is excited about the project as well as working alongside one of our customers, JDR Cable Systems, who specialise in subsea power cables and production umbilicals , “Being involved with the Baltic 2 project and seeing skilled workers that Mane have supplied contribute so significantly to the work that’s been carried out has been incredibly satisfying. Working with JDR has been thoroughly enjoyable, and I look forward to continuing working together on future Oil & Gas, and renewable energy projects throughout 2015″
Another organisation Mane have worked with on Baltic 2 has been Sarens NV, who have very much enjoyed the partnership, “Sarens have been working with Mane Offshore over the past year. During this time, we have been provided with excellent personnel, even at times with some very short notice. Stephen’s knowledge and understanding the industry, as well as our needs as a business are pretty good. I would have no problem recommending his very professional, friendly services to other operators in the Industry. We look forward to working with Stephen and Mane Offshore throughout 2015’.
