Technical Author

Up to £45,000 DOE

  • Company Bonus: Up to £2,500, subject to annual company performance.

We are seeking authoring specialists to support and develop complex engineering descriptive and procedural documentation.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven experience in technical authoring is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SGML is required, along with adaptability to other authoring formats.
  • Tools: Familiarity with S1000D-based authoring tools, BREX (Business Rules Exchange), guidance documents, CSDB (Common Source Data Base) environments, and associated reports.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals, maintaining a helpful, professional, and calm demeanor.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise to ensure design teams understand the publication development, production, and maintenance processes.


  • Collaboration: Work with product suppliers to support technical publication technologies, and maintain high standards in personal and technical reports and records of all technical publication activities.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas for demonstration or process proving activities at alternate sites or customer locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Military Publications: Experience and working knowledge of military operation and maintenance technical publications are preferred but not essential.
