My client, an industry leader in design, development and manufacture is seeking an experienced RF Design Engineer to work on the research, development and testing of advanced radio-frequency technology for integration into complex defence systems. This role is hands-on and involves practical design, rapid prototyping, and modification of RF hardware to support leading-edge product development.
You will join a collaborative engineering team, and the role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical lab work, hands-on testing, and detailed RF circuit design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Practical RF design and testing at component level across a wide frequency range (approximately 30 MHz to 30 GHz), including LNAs, high-power amplifiers, filters, oscillators, synthesisers and modulators.
  • RF design for harsh environments including EMC, vibration and thermal considerations.
  • Conduct design proving activities and trials in an on-site laboratory.
  • Perform hands-on tasks such as soldering, fault finding and use of RF test equipment (spectrum analysers, power meters, VNAs).
  • Apply knowledge of digital, analogue and power supply design.
  • Use RF design tools such as Microwave Office, including layout.
  • Work with manufacturing teams and apply design-for-manufacture and design-for-test principles.
  • Produce clear reports, presentations and technical communication for internal teams and customers.

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong practical RF engineering background with proven design and test experience.
  • Excellent hands-on skills and familiarity with common RF lab equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and a passion for electronic engineering.

The organisation supports an inclusive workplace and encourages applicants from all backgrounds. Adjustments or additional support during the recruitment process can be provided on request.

If you are looking to apply your RF expertise to advanced defence technologies, we would welcome your application.
