Mane are looking for a QS to join their client, a leading M&E Contractor working on projects in and around the Newnham area.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will work under the guidance of the Commercial Manager and be responsible for:
- Overseeing the commercial aspects of projects
- Preparing and submitting monthly applications for payment (AFP).
- Managing project variations and general change management.
- Monitoring and analyzing monthly cost reports to produce month-end reports.
- Attending meetings to progress or finalize project accounts.
- Identifying, reviewing, and mitigating commercial and contractual risks.
- Gaining familiarity with standard contract forms, including NEC3 and JCT.
- Negotiating subcontract terms and conditions with clients and contractors.
- Drafting subcontracts, valuing subcontractor work, and certifying interim and final payments.
- Enhancing cash flow through effective control, measurement, valuation, invoicing, and cash collection.
- Receiving training and support to aid in your professional development.
- Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying (Degree, HNC, or NVQ preferred).
- 2 years of experience preferred, but candidates with relevant experience or qualifications will also be considered.
- Understanding of electrical systems is beneficial but not required.
- Strong IT skills, especially in MS Office, with a focus on Excel.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative team attitude.
- Effective time management skills.
- Methodical approach and proactive learning ability.
